SUMMARY:Bridging the Information Gap Workshop Series: New Restaurant Regulations
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our Bridging the Information Gap Workshop on New Restaurant Regulations. Larry Drago\, President of BizChecks Payroll\, will be speaking on the following topics: \n\n\n\nPaid Family Leave - As part of the Grand Bargain passed last year\, all companies will have to collect and remit to the Mass Department of Revenue a tax which will fund the new paid family leave program. \n\n\n\nSection 27 - Another provision of the Grand Bargain is that restaurants must now ensure that tipped wait staff earn the minimum wage on a per shift basis. The requirement effectively serves to increase the minimum wage for tipped employees.\n\n\n\nEMAC - This past year employers were hit with an assessment of 5% of wages up to $750 per employee for any employee that participates in the Mass Health Program or a subsidized Connector program. This has resulted in millions of dollars in unexpected and unbudgeted expenses for many Cape companies. The law is expected to sunset in 2019 however there is no assurance that this will occur.\n\n\n\nLight breakfast and coffee will be provided and there will be ample time for networking and Q&A.\n\n\n\nAbout the Speaker:\n\nLarry Drago is the owner and President of BizChecks Payroll Inc. located in Marstons Mills. Larry has been a business owner on Cape Cod and the South Shore for over 30 years. Prior to founding BizChecks Payroll Inc. in 2003\, Larry owned and operated a business that provided accounting and administrative services to local business owners. BizChecks Payroll provides payroll\, human resources\, and time solutions to over 900 organizations in the Northeast. Larry graduated from Colby College with a degree in government and economics and currently serves as the Chair of Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce and has served on a number of non-profit boards on the Cape. He lives in Marstons Mills with his wife and business partner Laurie.
