SUMMARY:Civilian Response to Active Shooter Training
DESCRIPTION:The Yarmouth Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the Yarmouth Police Department will present a FREE 2 hour training session to members of the public and business community. The training is called CRASE (Civilian Response to Active Shooter/Hostile Events (ASHE)).\n\nThe training will give the attendees an overview on what an active shooter event is and what they can do to protect themselves after 911 is called.\n\nThis is a nationally recognized training program developed in conjunction with the Department of Justice and Texas State University.\n\nThe training will look at the Virginia Tech School shooting and other events\, reviewing data from a study conducted by the FBI in from 2000-2013 on active shooter/hostile events.\n\nAt the conclusion of the program\, the attendees will have a better understanding on what an ASHE is\, what preparations can be done now to protect themselves before an ASHE\, and what they can do to reduce risks during an ASHE.\n\nABOUT LT. KEVIN LENNON - 26 year veteran of law enforcement\, Lt. Lennon has been teaching active shooter response at the recruit\, veteran\, and reserve officer level since 2002. Lt. Lennon is a level 4 instructor with the Municipal Police Training Committee and has trained thousands of police officers in patrol response to active shooter.
