SUMMARY:Drawn To Music- Improvisation meets Synesthesia meets Life
DESCRIPTION:Returning to the Cultural Center for 2023\, Lennie Peterson and Wayne Naus. This is an event like no other. With an interactive presentation\, Peterson will create one of his large composer portraits in front of his audience while accompanied by the music of pianist and composer Wayne Naus. During the presentation\, Peterson will discuss his creative process involving the concept of improvisation in music and visual art as well as his neurological condition called "synesthesia\," a phenomenon in which two or more of the five senses are connected in unusual ways. Peterson "sees" music and translates the shapes\, colors\, and images of that music onto his canvas. At the end of the one-hour presentation\, Peterson will join Naus on the trombone to perform a musical selection related to the portrait that was created. There will be a Q and A and open discussion at the end of the night. Complimentary wine and cheese are included.
