DESCRIPTION:Stone Carving Demonstration Jesse Marsolais of Harwich will demonstrate the ancient art of stone carving and lettering outside the Captain Bangs Hallet House on Saturday\, Aug. 12\, from 2 -4 p.m. The demonstration is free and the museum will be open for the usual admission to view the special exhibit by Friends of Ancient Cemetery in Yarmouth Port. The Friends' volunteers have cleaned and documented 1\,118 gravestones associated with 1\,385 individuals in just five years. Visitors will learn how the work has been done and show the work and foil impressions made from gravestones. The museum at 11 Strawberry Lane\, Yarmouth Port\, is the only fully furnished 19th century Victorian captain's house on Cape Cod. The house holds silk\, porcelain and marine artifacts from Yarmouth sea captains' Far East seafaring days as well as an 18th century kitchen. Docents lead the tours. General admission is $10. Admission is free for HSOY members\, youth under 18\, Yarmouth residents and up to four active military families.
