DESCRIPTION:The Aryaloka String Quartet will present a program by three living composers   Arvo P rt\, Caroline Shaw\, and Philip Glass   and the only quartet of the early 20th century French composer\, Maurice Ravel. At first these works may seem wildly different. Or\, in fact\, they may seem rather similar! What unites them are their explorations of tone color\, sensuality\, repeated motives\, stillness\, and energy. But how marvelously differently does each composer arrive at their sonic expressions of these explorations! Performers include Beth Welty and Mark Latham\, violins\; Noralee Walker\, viola\, and Sandi Jo Malmon\, cello.
