Transatlantic Train: Boston, Liverpool, and Cape Cod Sea Captains
Enoch Train was a poor orphan who somehow became one of the most important maritime figures in 19th century Boston. He played a key role in the career of renowned shipbuilder Donald McKay, and operated Boston’s most successful transatlantic shipping line. Two of his most trusted captains were Cape Codders from maritime families—one of whom, sadly, was lost in tragic circumstances on a return voyage from Liverpool.
