A large collection of historical silhouettes will be on display at the Bangs Hallet House Museum in Yarmouth Port starting June 17 through August. The collection of Charles and Barbara Adams will include 60 varied silhouettes from the late 18th to 19th centuries, from depictions of Alexander Hamilton and his wife and Abraham Lincoln’s Hingham relatives in the hollow cut style to one in a contemporary style. Several examples of the scherenschnitte style, commonly known as cut paper, are finely detailed and whimsical folk designs of nature and animal scenes, all cut from a single sheet of paper. There are also some unusual colored silhouettes’ The Bangs Hallet House is run by the Historical Society of Old Yarmouth at 11 Strawberry Lane, Yarmouth Port. Hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Friday to Sunday with docent-led tours on the hour. The exhibit is supported in part by the Mid Cape Cultural Council.
