The Barnstable County Human Services Department reports the suicide rate on the Cape and Islands is more than twice the state average, and suicide is now the second leading cause of death for youth ages 14-25. Last year, Sharing Kindness was formed to honor a Nauset high school junior who died by suicide. Over four hundred Cape Codders joined us at the first Suicide Awareness Walk on Cape Cod last year. This year, we are partnering with Cape & Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition and the Samaritans of Cape Cod and the Islands. This walk is open to anyone who has been impacted by the death of a loved one or associate to suicide. Please join us and help us to end the silence and raise awareness of this issue within our community. Thank you!
