A safe Halloween trick or treat event with lots of Halloween spirits will be held around the Yarmouth Port Common at three locations on Sunday, Oct. 31, 4 to 7 p.m. The Bangs Hallet House Museum, the Edward Gorey House and the Yarmouth New Church will have scary decorations and treats. The Bangs Hallet House will be elaborately decorated as a scary haunted house by coordinators Kelly Morton and Brian Sheehy. Costumed volunteers will hand out treats to revelers. The house will not be open for tours. The Gorey House will feature a fortuneteller in the yard, a Halloween maker’s market with young local artists displaying original Goreyish seasonal delights, such as paintings, ceramics and art cards. The New Church is planning to install some special decorations on the Common and offer treats in the church. Hear some spooky tunes on the historic organ at the church, bump into a sea – captain from the past, and play some spooktacular games! The free event is open to all ages, costumes encouraged. See www.hsoy.org for information. Reservations are not needed.
