The Historical Society of Old Yarmouth will hold election of officers and its annual business by Zoom on Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. The society recently presented awards at its annual meeting to members who have made significant contributions to the organization. Anne Grammar was recognized for 23 years as costume curator who has gathered period clothing from Yarmouth's history and curated three major exhibitions. Laurel Gabel and Melanie Barron were recognized for their contributions to the cleaning and restoration of more than 1,000 stones at Ancient Cemetery in Yarmouth Port. They established Friends of Ancient Cemetery with 25 volunteers who participated in the project. Glen Nelson received an award for his participation in cleaning and clearing of the society’s 50 acres of nature trails off Route 6A in Yarmouth Port. Society Administrator Marie Kersten Zahn spoke on “Taxes, Trade, and Treasure: The Culture of Tea in Colonial America.”
