Food from a Christmas Carol, with Chef Joe Cizynski
Presented by the Cultural Center of Cape Cod on Wednesday, December 6, from 6-8pm. “Heaped up on the floor, to form a kind of throne, were turkeys, geese, game, poultry, brawn, great joints of meat, sucking-pigs, long wreaths of sausages, mince-pies, plum-puddings, barrels of oysters, luscious pears, immense twelfth-cakes, and seething bowls of punch, that made the chamber dim with their delicious steam. In easy state upon this couch, there sat a jolly Giant, glorious to see: who bore a glowing torch, in shape not unlike Plenty’s horn, and held it up, high up, to shed its light on Scrooge, as he came peeping round the door!” So wrote Charles Dickens. Tonight we will dine on oyster and Finnan Haddie stew with root vegetables, goose rillettes and suckling pig lardon salad with cranberries and oranges, roast prime rib of beef, truffle au jus, Yorkshire pudding and roasted carrots and finish with a sweet apple and pear chutney in puff pastry with vanilla bean ice cream. There will be “seething bowls of punch” served. This is a BYOB event and bring some of your best wines to celebrate the Christmas season!! $75/$65 for members. ?Register at www.cultural-center.org or call 508-394-7100.
