Holiday on the Cape
Cape Symphony’s “Holiday on the Cape” concert, led by Conductor Joe Marchio, will be held on December 1, 2 and 3 at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center. The Chatham Chorale, guest vocalist Patrice Tiedemann, and the Cape Symphony Dance Company will also perform. The concert program includes heartwarming holiday classics, beautiful carols, and the world premiere of “A Chanukah Festival,” composed by Cape Symphony’s own Mark Miller. The Chatham Chorale will perform several pieces, joining the orchestra for John Williams’s music from the movie Home Alone and culminating in the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah. Soloist Patrice Tiedemann is well-known for acclaimed appearances with the Boston Pops, Boston Lyric Opera, Cape Cod Opera, Rhode Island Philharmonic, and many others. Her soprano will sparkle in Maureen Condon’s “Christmas on Cape Cod” and bring audiences to an enchanted hush in “O Holy Night.” The Cape Symphony Dance Company, led by Director of Dance Michelle Chwastiak, will perform to Robert Wendel’s arrangement of “Little Bolero Boy.” At Saturday’s concerts, the Cape Symphony Youth Orchestra will also join the Cape Symphony Orchestra onstage to play Leroy Anderson’s “Sleigh Ride.” With music from the cinematic to the sacred, sleigh bells, soloists, and a sing-a-long, “Holiday on the Cape” promises something for everyone to enjoy!
