Sea Songs Performed by Pianist Ana Glig and Vocalist Vira Slywotzky

Ana Glig (Gligvashvili) is an award-winning Georgian-American pianist praised for her “virtuosic command of works” (Susan Sheild) and ability to “capture hearts” (Musical America Worldwide). Glig’s playing is recognized for her “lovely expressiveness, clarity in legato, balance, and perfect logic.” (Lois Pfister) Glig has performed internationally in Europe and United States in solo and chamber settings. As an orchestra soloist, Glig debuted with Georgian and Israeli symphonic orchestras and, most recently, with Cape Symphony and Cape Cod Chamber Orchestras. In a solo recital setting, Glig was a recent feature in the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert in Chicago, Illinois. Glig received her master’s degree in piano performance from Mannes School of Music -The New School, an Advanced Certificate in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from New York University. She completed her bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Tbilisi State Conservatoire. Glig also served as an adjunct piano faculty at NYU Steinhardt. Glig is a Music Director at the First United Methodist Church in Chatham. She currently lives on Cape Cod where she continues to perform, teach and is the Music Director at the First United Methodist Church. Vira Slywotzky has performed principal roles with Seattle Opera, Chautauqua Opera, Chelsea Opera, Center for Contemporary Opera, Light Opera of New York, Sarasota Opera, Boston Midsummer Opera and Victor Herbert Renaissance Project – LIVE!, and has appeared in concert with Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, Cambridge Symphony Orchestra, Hudson Festival Orchestra, New Haven Chamber Orchestra and Rockland Camerata. She has sung recitals, concerts and cabarets in New York City venues. Internationally, Slywotzky has performed in Canada, France, Hungary, Russia, Sweden, and Wales. A champion of new music, Slywotzky has premiered more than 30 vocal works, ranging in size and scope from stand-alone songs to opera, perhaps most notably creating the role of Mrs. Fatima Bakshlevi in The Woman in Penthouse A. In May 2018, Slywotzky founded the concert series Vira & Friends to bring people together to enjoy the live performance of songs written for voice and piano. In 2023, Vira & Friends presented twelve performances in seven states of This Ukrainian American Life, an autobiographical concert/cabaret featuring Slywotzky and composer/pianist Dina Pruzhansky and has raised $45,000 for Razom for Ukraine.
