Climate Challenges on the Cape & Islands
Join the Alliance for its popular webinar series, ACONS (A Celebration of Nantucket Sound) with climate scientist and award-winning meteorologist Chris Gloninger. This presentation will explore how climate change is reshaping Cape Cod, from rising sea levels to intensifying storms and shifting ecosystems. It will break down the latest science, highlight local impacts, and discuss actionable solutions to enhance resilience and protect the region’s communities and natural resources. A live Q&A with Chris and Alliance President Audra Parker will follow the presentation.
Chris has extensive experience in the field of meteorology and climate science. His passion for meteorology was sparked by Hurricane Bob, leading him to a career spanning 18 years as a broadcast meteorologist in markets across the U.S., where he covered everything from hurricanes to Nor’easters. He launched the nation's first weekly climate change series, earning multiple EMMYs and industry awards. With the help of respected industry experts, community advocates, and politicians, the series explained the science of climate mitigation and adaptation, provided examples of how climate change is affecting people at the local level, and showcased some of the advancements being made in clean and renewable energy. Now a Senior Scientist at Woods Hole Group, Chris applies his expertise in climate and risk communication, helping communities understand and prepare for the impacts of a changing climate.
