The Parsa Duo
Meeting as young music students in Boston in 1986, Henderson and Remy Johnson grew up together musically surrounded by extraordinary teachers and immersed in superb music, working and performing in youth orchestras and chamber music groups throughout the late '80s and early '90s. After graduating from Harvard University and the New England Conservatory of Music respectively, Remy Johnson and Henderson left the Boston area and forged their own paths as musicians - Remy Johnson as Principal Harpist for the Atlanta Symphony, and Henderson reinvigorating classical music through his Bach in the Subways project. Happily and unexpectedly reconnecting in early 2015 through their work on Bach in the Subways, the two musicians formed the Parsa Duo, dedicated single-mindedly to cultivating the joy, inspiration, and fun that were so integral to the great music making they shared in their student years in New England. This program will feature works by Bach, Casals, Lynch, and Pärt, as well as a few popular songs that will surprise and delight. They also perform the following evening, July 23 at 7 p.m. at Swedenborg Chapel in Cambridge. bachinthesubways@gmail.com
